The term 'kidney failure' means that the kidneys are becoming less able than normal to perform their usual functions.
When kidney disease starts, it is likely to get worse in time however it can take years or decades
When kidney failure is so advanced that you would die without treatment (either dialysis or transplant), it is called Established REnal Failure (ERF)
